Track Description

Industry 5.0 is often described as a holistic and collaborative system where humans work closely with advanced technologies, including AI-driven systems, to enhance industrial processes. This new paradigm emphasizes a human-centric approach, prioritizing worker well-being and integrating human capabilities into industrial practices. At the time of transition to Industry 5.0, the focus on human-centric methodologies in supply chain and operations management becomes increasingly important for achieving sustainable and efficient outcomes.
This special session aims to explore innovative research and methodologies that integrate human wellness while addressing the different issues of logistics and supply chain management.
We welcome both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies that provide insights into supply chain
management and logistics integrating human aspect. This includes empirical studies, case analyses, and theoretical frameworks that contribute to the understanding of human factors in industrial contexts. We invite scholars, practitioners, and industry leaders to submit papers that delve into the following themes:

- Integration of Human Factors. Approaches that consider human capabilities and limitations in the design and management of supply chains and operational processes.
- Technological Innovations. Exploring how emerging technologies can support human-centric practices in supply chains, including AI, robots, and automation.
- Operations Management. Examining the role of operations management in fostering human-centric practices, ensuring that operational efficiency aligns with human needs.
- Human specificities in Decision Tools. Analyzing the characteristics of human decision-making and how these can be effectively integrated into decision support systems and tools to enhance outcomes in supply chain and operations management.
- Human Wellness in Supply Chains. Investigating how supply chain strategies can be designed to integrate the well-being of workers.

Supply chains are increasingly recognized as complex systems influenced by both tangible and intangible factors. While traditional metrics like cost and efficiency remain essential, hidden dimensions such as trust, collaboration, culture, innovation, and social capital are equally pivotal for achieving strategic advantage. This track explores the intangible drivers of supply chain performance with a particular focus on how technologies like IoT, AI, blockchain, and advanced analytics can uncover, enhance, and leverage these hidden dimensions. The track provides a platform for interdisciplinary contributions, addressing the integration of digital tools with relational, behavioral, and cultural aspects of supply chain management. By bridging human-centric and technology-driven approaches, this track seeks to advance the understanding and utilization of supply chain intangibles for resilience, adaptability, and long-term performance. We welcome a diverse range of methodologies, including quantitative and qualitative approaches, such as empirical studies, case analyses, and theoretical frameworks. We invite scholars, practitioners, and industry leaders to submit papers that contribute to the following themes:

‍Trust and Relational Capital: This theme explores the pivotal role of trust and collaboration in building resilient supply chains, fostering stronger partnerships and long-term performance, including frameworks and case studies on trust-driven strategies.
Cultural and Behavioral Dynamics: Examining the impact of cultural differences and human behavior, focusing on how cultural intelligence and behavioral insights can align global supply chain strategies, mitigate biases, and enhance decision-making. It also examines the role of digital tools in navigating these complexities.
‍Innovation and Knowledge Sharing: This theme examines the mechanisms that drive creativity and collaboration within supply chains. It explores how organizations can create ecosystems for knowledge sharing and continuous improvement, with a focus on the enabling role of technologies like IoT and AI.
‍Technology-Enhanced Intangibles: Exploring the transformative potential of technologies such as blockchain, AI, and advanced analytics, and how digital tools can identify, measure, and leverage intangibles to improve supply chain performance.
‍Quantifying Intangibles: Measuring the influence of intangibles like trust, culture, and social capital is a key challenge. This theme investigates innovative approaches to developing metrics, models, and methodologies to quantify these intangibles and evaluate their impact on supply chain outcomes.
